How esimdata works
esimdata is an independent comparison of travel eSIM plans for people and their AI agents. It sells nothing.
Where the data comes from
Once a day a crawler reads each provider's own public plan catalogue, only where the provider's robots.txt allows it and its terms don't forbid it. It identifies itself as esimdata-crawler/0.1 (+https://esimdata.app/about/#crawler), makes at most one request every 1.5 seconds per site and never logs in or gets past bot protection. Prices are converted to US dollars at the European Central Bank's reference rate of the day. A plan whose provider couldn't be read for 7 days is taken down rather than shown stale.
Every fact on a plan is what the provider states. If a provider doesn't say whether a plan allows hotspot, the page shows nothing rather than guessing.
How plans are ranked
By price in US dollars, or price per GB, or validity, when you choose. The same rule applies to every provider, on the site, in the API and in the MCP server. Ties are broken by price, then by plan id, so the order never shifts between visits.
Disclosure
Today esimdata earns no commission from any provider. If it joins a provider's affiliate programme, that provider's page and every plan will say so, and links to it will be marked as sponsored. Commission never changes the ranking.
Which providers are listed
Listed now: Alt eSIM, esimker, Flexiroam, Jetpac, Roamify, Ubigi: 14,089 plans.
Not listed yet, and why:
- Airalo, Maya Mobile, aloSIM: their terms forbid automated reading of their sites without permission.
- Holafly, Nomad, Keepgo: their terms don't allow commercial reuse of their content without written permission.
- Saily, Yesim, BNESIM: their sites sit behind bot protection, which esimdata doesn't get past.
- PikaSim, Roamzy: their robots.txt disallows the catalogue endpoints, so esimdata doesn't call them.
- GigSky, Airhub, BuyUKeSIM and others: under review (no readable robots.txt, unclear terms, or not built yet).
Providers can be listed by publishing a catalogue esimdata may read (an llms.txt or JSON feed, as Roamify and Alt eSIM do) or by granting permission. Providers can also ask to be removed.
What esimdata records
Clicks on "View" and calls to the API and MCP tools are counted by plan, provider, channel and country, to learn what travellers look for. No IP addresses, accounts or cookies.
